13 Ways To Get Out Of Your Own Way And Get Things Done
#5 Trust the motivation of others over their intention

So often in life, our greatest obstacle is ourselves. It isn’t that we can’t force ourselves to grit our teeth and push through the few hours left of work and it’s not that we don’t know what we should be doing, or how we could better ourselves either. Self-sabotage happens in small, nearly undetectable moments. Our minds have a way of breeding resistance through repetition — how often we self-deprecate in our thoughts, give up after a temporary setback, or spend time with the people who de-motivate us.
This year still has every opportunity to be the one that changes your life in the best way. If you wish this to be, then here are 13 ways to start:
Stop defending your pain more than your potential.
We all carry pain through our lives that subconsciously place illusory boundaries around our spontaneity, limiting how much we grow. Familiar becomes comfortable so now every idea that stems from unfamiliarity is a bad one. If a person suggests a new habit, idea, or suggestion — rather than shooting it down, consider what it could do if you gave it a fair shot.
Do one thing at a time.
Though you might be convinced that you can do it all, it’s time we take a moment to be honest and admit that we can’t — at least not all at once. It will always be best to begin with one thing and bring it to a state of completion before moving on to the next.
Forget failure.
We’ve all heard the quote, ‘Failure isn’t an option.’ This may be true, but we all know it is most definitely a possibility. Failure is a part of the process. With big risk comes big reward and you will never find progress without first taking the chance of meeting failure along the way. Expect failure and if it comes, learn from it.
